Simple Home Improvements: Kitchen

When redecorating your home, the kitchen is an ideal place to start; the space where you eat and prepare meals can bring effect other parts of your life, like diet you stick to or how tidy you are in other rooms. So here are some easy ways you can help improve the way your kitchen treats you.
The overhead task lights are practical, and add warmth to the room
  1. Consider the lighting of the room. Often overhead lighting is all you see in a kitchen, which can cast shadows over you when performing tasks in certain areas. Therefore task lighting is an easy fix; by using two light sources you eliminate the shadow, giving you a workstation with easier-to-see spaces that prevent eyestrain.
  2. Islands and counters: replacing a kitchen table with an island or breakfast bar is perfect for modernizing a kitchen, whilst maintaining a pleasant social spot for you, your friends, and your family.  Kitchens with islands also have more opportunity for extra storage space and another workstation- great for if you're preparing big meals, or maybe even if you just like to spread out while you work.
  3. Update just one area at a time: it's no secret that redecorating a kitchen can rack up some high costs, so it's a good idea to stagger the improvements over a period of time. You can start small, for example instead of replacing entire cabinets, just change the doors and handles for a subtle refresh. Or you can change the look of your kitchen entirely in one motion by switching old tiles for a sleek glass splashback.
  4. Reorganize your storage spaces: there are countless creative ways to reduce clutter in your kitchen. You could use magazine racks to organize cans and tins on your pantry shelves, or mount a strong magnetic strip on the wall to stick big knives to. You could also redesign one of those pocket wall-hanging shoe organizers for your kitchen utensils instead of jamming them all into several drawers.
